Extra Virgin Olive Oil – Arbequina

Arbequina olive oil is light olive oil, sweeter suave y dulce, compared to other varieties. It has an intense fruity aroma, a deep green color, and a very pleasant taste, with hints of nutty aromas and, in some cases, ripe fruits.

Arbequina olive oil originated in Cataloniat became known thanks to the Duke of Medinaceli in the 17th century, who resided at Castell d’Arbeca, from which it takes its name. This variety has become increasingly widespread across Spain, especially in Andalusia, and has become one of the most appreciated extra virgin olive oils internationally.It is particularly valued for being a milder and sweeter oil, ideal for those less accustomed to consuming EVOO and who prefer oils with lower bitterness and pungency.

 

Extra Virgin Olive Oil – Picual

There are countless olive varieties and types of olive oil, but among them all, one stands out above the rest: Picual olive oil. El éxito de este tipo de aceituna se debe a que es una variedad con gran capacidad de adaptación a todo tipo de suelos y climas. Su color puede ser entre verdoso y dorado dependiendo del momento de la cosecha y extracción. Las cosechas más tempranas, entre finales de octubre y primera quincena de noviembre dan lugar al aceite verde, un tipo de aceite excelente para tomar en crudo, de color verdoso y amargor y picor intensos con notas a hierba, césped, almendra y tomatera.

En cambio, la cosecha más tardía, la que precede a la del denominado aceite verde, produce aceites más suaves, de frutado intenso, pero de amargor y picor menos fuerte. Este tipo de aceite tiene un color más claro, entre verdoso y dorado con notas a hoja de higuera y alcachofa. Esta tipología de aceite, debido a su fuerte carácter amargo y picante puede ser rechazado por consumidores que no estén demasiados acostumbrados al consumo de aceite de oliva virgen extra.
